Pockets of Sunshine is not about the song of similar title, though I did hear about that later. I was in a down phase in my life and to cheer myself up I’d look for tiny signs of hope: a quarter on the ground near the meter when my pocket was empty; that person who lets you in during rush hour traffic; my daughter’s silly little face and honest declarations of love; and a text out of nowhere from my sweetheart. All these things are small but they add up to a lot of wonderful feelings, if you’re paying attention and take the time to notice and acknowledge them. I explained to my good friend that these gem moments were “little pockets of sunshine”; rays of light that pierce through the dark dreary phase of our lives. And the idea for Pockets of Sunshine blog was born.

This site is about my quest to capture those moments in any form. I like to write, take pictures and make films. I plan to use all three here. My first official post was in March of 2011. It’s a work in progress so only time will tell what evolves from it.

And if it’s okay with you, maybe we can share them here and possibly even cheer someone up or help them open their eyes and look for these moments in their own lives. That’s my goal. :-)
